Hotel Access at Fistral Beach Hotel

  • The centre of the town is a 15 minute walk away (3 minute drive).
  • There is a company who specialises in accessible taxi service please see ‘contact information’ below.
  • Our brochures, sample menus and tariffs are available in larger font on request.
  • You can contact the hotel by phone (switchboard accept typetalk calls), text, email, fax or in person. We are open between 07.00am and 11.00pm.
  • We have a list of local equipment hirers that is available on request.

Pre-Arrival

  • All guests should use the main entrance of the hotel located on Esplanade Road. There are steps to the main doors, but a door at the rear of the hotel is available with no steps.
  • There is one entrance for the cars, turning is sometimes necessary
  • Once you have entered the hotel there is a lift by the bar to the main floors, however there are various steps and level changes throughout the hotel, please ask reception for details.
  • The car park entrance has approx 40 spaces, one for disabled drivers and 10 others reserved for private parking.
  • If you need assistance with luggage, equipment or guidance, our reception team will be pleased to help.
  • If the front door is locked please press the bell for assistance.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • All guests should use the main entrance of the hotel located on Esplanade Road. There are steps to the main doors, but a door at the rear of the hotel is available with no steps
  • There is one entrance for the cars, turning is sometimes necessary
  • The main entrance has manual exterior double doors and automatic interior doors. There are handrails on the entrance steps
  • Once you have entered the hotel there is a lift by the bar to the main floors, however there are various steps and level changes throughout the hotel, please ask reception for details
  • The car park entrance has approx 40 spaces, one for disabled drivers and 10 others reserved for private parking
  • If you need assistance with luggage, equipment or guidance, our reception team will be pleased to help

Main Entrance & Reception

  • In addition to the steps at the entrance there are two steps in the main lobby area
  • The front desk is immediately in front of you when entering the main entrance
  • The reception desk is 120cm high. Registration can be completed whilst sitting in the bar area and we have clipboards available
  • An induction loop is available at reception, staff can advise of best location.
  • The registration card can be enlarged if required and we have a guidance tool to help guide you through the registration card if required.
  • Through the bar which is adjoining the reception is the lift to all floors for bedrooms.
  • The restaurant is next to the reception and has two levels with 2 steps
  • Fistral Spa is opposite reception. There is controlled access to the spa and 8 steps to the lift which services 4 floors which are all on one level.
  • There is an exterior entrance to the spa with no steps please ring the hotel 01637 852221 in advance to use this entrance
  • The floor surface throughout the reception lobby is hard wood which can be quite reflective and shiny. Please ask the reception for assistance if required.
  • Familiarisation tours can be given where required

Public Areas – General (Internal)

  • Our lifts have tactile buttons at standard height.
  • There is a ballroom area near to the lift which can be accessed by 4 steps or by using the door at the rear of the hotel which is on the same level as the ballroom.
  • The ballroom is on two levels with 3 steps to the upper level

Public Areas – WC

  • There are 2 sets of public toilets, one next to the bar and one in the spa. The designated unisex accessible toilets are by the bar, in the spa entrance and on the third floor of the spa. These toilets provide:
  • Emergency Alarm pull cord
  • Flashing light when fire alarm sounds
  • 150x160cm free space free of obstacles and doors
  • Min 98cm transfer space
  • Floor is non slip tiles.
  • There are vertical rails either side of basins and toilets
  • There is a horizontal rail on the side opposite transfer from the toilet
  • There are lever taps on sinks
  • There is colour contrast with critical surfaces, tiles are coloured and sanitary ware is white.

Restaurant

  • Nearest toilets to the restaurant are next to the bar
  • The Restaurant has two steps to enter the first level and two steps to the higher level. It has hard wood flooring which can be quite reflective and shiny. Please ask the reception for assistance if required.
  • Some tables have a central column and some have with legs on all four corners of varying heights.
  • Seating is mixed mostly upright chairs without arms
  • Table service is offered
  • Lighting is mainly natural day light as there are large windows overlooking the beach. Evenly distributed lights are on when required. And steps have additional lights.
  • We are able to cater for varying dietary needs, please advise staff on booking
  • Menus are available in large print and staff will automatically take you through the menu and choices for the meal.
  • Lighting can be increased at certain tables if required.
  • There is an emergency door at the bottom end of the restaurant and a ramp onto the car park next to the disabled parking bay

Ballroom

  • The Ballroom has a carpet surrounding a polished wooden floor.
  • The are 3 steps to an upper level where the bar is located.
  • Lighting is natural with 2 big windows and there are evenly distributed lights on when required.
  • There is a large stage at the top end of the ballroom with an emergency exit at the back
  • This room can also be used for functions as it has a bar area
  • Some tables have a central column and some have with legs on all four corners of varying heights.
  • Seating is mixed mostly upright chairs without arms

Bar

  • The main bar is called “Bay Bar”
  • The bar is split between two levels with two steps to the first level.
  • Table service is available by request in the bar.
  • There is a selection of tables and chairs available of varying heights
  • Lighting is mainly natural day light in the lounge whilst parts of the bar have low level lighting at night, there are areas which are well lit also.
  • There is a decking area outside opposite the car park.
  • The bar is carpeted on the lower level and hard flooring around the bar counter and the entrance.
  • Lighting can be increased at certain tables if required.
  • We have tried to colour contrast crockery where possible.

Laundry

  • Laundry service and dry cleaning is offered. Please contact reception either before arrival or during your stay.

Fistral Spa

  • There is a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and whirl pool available for guests staying at the hotel 6am until 9pm.
  • All facilities have changing areas, or alternatively guests can change in their rooms and walk down to the pool in their robes.
  • The pool access is down steps. There are rails at two sides of the pool to assist entry. The pool is one level
  • The whirl pool is to the side of the swimming pool and has fairly steep large stepped access down to a seated position.
  • The sauna and steam room have door widths of 85cm and have a small step on entry. Seating is provided.
  • Emergency alarms are located at both ends of the pool.
  • The fitness suite is on the first floor and can be accessed by stairs or a lift
  • An induction will be given before use
  • The top two floors are the treatment areas. The lift and stairs provide access and all floors are on one level. It is all hard material flooring. There is a relaxation room and changing area on the third floor. There is also a unisex disabled toilet as described above.

Bedrooms

  • There are no disabled rooms at the Fistral Beach Hotel however our sister hotel, the Esplanade does have a disabled room. We are happy to help with any requests. Please contact the hotel on 01637 852221 with specific requests and we will do our utmost to meet these.

Additional Information

  • If you require any assistance during your stay please contact reception. The Duty Manager can also be contacted via reception.
  • We have a set evacuation procedure for basic information – Alarm bells are a continuous alarm. If we have been made aware of your special access needs someone will come to your room and assist with evacuation either out of the building or to a refuge.
  • All front house staff have regular training which includes disability awareness training.
  • All housekeeping staff have been trained and are aware of procedures to aid privacy in bedrooms.
  • There is good network coverage for some mobile phones within the hotel and average coverage from hotel bedrooms, some networks do not work.
